IKI

Spring/Summer 2012

In addition to her custom couture line, the Swiss-Japanese fashion designer Kazu Huggler creates original prints for her ready-to-wear line and designs high-end sterling silver bags and accessories. Kazu is driven by Japanese aesthetics and Swiss quality, which makes her creations a reflected and wearable symbiosis of both cultures. Her pieces are defined by elegant feminity, practical use and powerful prints and colors. Therefore this year’s Spring Summer Collection IKI – ‘chic’ – is dominated by newly interpreted wrap dresses, voluptuous prints of vintage Kimono fabrics, inkjet silks by Kazu’s long-time partner Fabric Frontline and caressing candy colors such as peach, icy blue and cider. Finely embroidered reversible Japanese jackets and colorful bolero jackets are the highlights. Kazu’s work is not only utterly ‘iki’ but also meaningful. The fashion designer has been strongly engaged in development aid in her country after it was devastated by the Tsunami in early 2011. Kazu is planning her next trip to Japan where she will educate teenagers in regaining and developing their creativity.
